Historic Porcelain Factory in Karlovy Vary Revives: Part of the Site Returns to Czech Ownership After 30 Years

The Czech company KV Catalysts is reviving operations at the site of the former traditional porcelain factory Moritz Zdekauer in the Staré Role area of Karlovy Vary. The company is launching the production of modern catalysts, which are crucial in the fight against climate change and are used, for example, in the energy sector for the production of more environmentally friendly fuels. The new owners plan to repair the bankrupt site and offer numerous job opportunities to the region.

At this time, KV Catalysts is starting operations in one of the factories within the Staré Role complex, which was purchased in 1995 from the well-known porcelain manufacturer Moritz Zdekauer by the French company KPCL and later sold to the French multinational company Imerys SA. This June, the acquisition of Imerys Tableware CR (now KV Catalysts) was completed, bringing the plant with porcelain granulate production technology back into Czech hands after nearly 30 years.

The company has already rehired some former employees and plans to create additional jobs. It is currently upgrading production technologies and launching the production of heterogeneous catalysts.
